Jazmine Hayes is a visual artist born, raised, and based in Brooklyn, New York. She received a BFA in painting and drawing from CUNY Queens College and is currently studying at Hunter College to receive her MFA in painting. Her artwork explores social and personal topics of family ancestry, women of color, identity and intergenerational imagery. She has worked with community-based organizations across New York City as a muralist and teaching artist. She believes that creating art with youth gives them an outlet of expression whereas it did for her at a young age.  She states, “My history, my testimonies, and life’s experiences substantiate my identity and inspire my work.”
